Avoid!! Avoid!! Avoid!! Scary place for tourists!!

We were visiting from the states. We came in & sampled the gelato. The owner was rude & abrupt. The gelato didn't taste good either. I ordered a chocolate with waffles. He literally reheated the waffle in a microwave & dumped Nutella on it, ignoring that I had stated I did not want a reheated waffle. I felt obligated since he had heated it and the sign said it was only 4 Euros. When I reluctantly took the waffle, he asked for 5 Euros. I told him it was only 4. He said in a very aggressive manner, where? That sign is old, you don't know anything. He tried to give me my Euro back but I left as I felt uncomfortable with such an angry man. He got very upset that I took a picture of his place because he knew I wasn't giving it a pleasant review!

    P.s. I trashed the waffle!

My husband and I stopped in to rest our feet and have a quick night snack while roaming the streets of Florence. We had a few different things - a nutella filled flaky pastry, cannoli and gelato. The owner was so kind and welcoming - which we really appreciated after a few bad encounters with locals. He told us to sit and brought our desserts to us and invited us to stay as long as we liked. The pastries were delicious and the gelato was creamy and wonderful. They had so many things I would like to have tried, but unfortunately I only have one stomach. :(

My family and I were looking for a handcraft gelato bar while we were in Florence and we came across Caffe del Battistero. All four of us ordered gelato and sat down at the tables next to the bar, and as we each started eating the gelato, we each realized that it was not good gelato. It wasn't a big deal since we could easily go find another place to get gelato from but of course we were not happy that we spent money and the gelato was bad. We each went to throw the gelato away and decided to let the employees know so that hopefully it will help them to make the gelato better for in the future. We had no personal reasons to tell them the gelato wasn't good other than to help. The employees became instantly angry with us and started arguing and told us that the gelato comes from Algida, which is a big ice cream manufacturer in Italy. We realized the gelato was not handcraft and is why it didn't taste as good as we expected. We tried to explain to the employees that we were only trying to help and they replied that you don't try to help people you don't know, and then proceeded to walk towards me in an aggressive manner and as a woman this was very frightening that a man would be so aggressive so easily. If you want to taste good gelato, find a place that is handcraft, real gelato, instead of gelato made in a factory and re-sold in gelato bars like this. Aside from the fact that the owner was aggressive, the gelato was a waste of money.
